unemployment insurance or not?

Here is my situation. I found out secretly they were going to fire me on Monday when I walk in. Management saying I was late and was not happy w/ performance which I totally disagree with him. He didn't have any solid detail or example to back it up so I felt i was being mistreated or felt like a scapegoat to save the company money. I just email them resignation letter on Sunday. I told them i had to care for sick child and father in law who had surgery and need home rest for 6 month. Will I get unemployment if I file? What should I say since they were going to fire me or just say volunteer quit due to family health? Thanks for your comment

  1. You will not qualify for unemployment. UI is for those who are laid off through no fault of their own. So whether you resigned (your choice) or you were fired (due to tardiness) you are still considered at fault. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news :(
