is this a good letter of resignation?

Dear Jean This is my formal notification that I am resigning. May 7, 2009 will be my last day of employment. My reason of resigning is school related,and doesnt concern anything work related. I appreciate the opportunities I have been given here, and wish you much success in the future. Sincerely, Virginia R. Brents

1. sounds OK to me.
2. It sounds fine except giving the reason. It goes into too much, as it will only get used for HR purposes. The 3rd paragraph is not necessary either. tell her personally how much you have appreciated the opportunity and ask if you can give her for a reference for the future.
3. How long have you been working at your current employer? What is the nature of your job? Depending on that, you could just go with your first and third paragraphs and leave out the middle where you reference your resignation being school related.
