How do you write a resignation letter?

After 7 years of dedicating work I was falsely accused of something, and was written up. I have decided to move on. How do you write a resignation letter? Thanks.

  1. You may have done this already, but it's a good idea to utilize the company's internal grievance process to get something like that off your record before you move on. Otherwise, you write it in formal business format (I've included a link). You address it to your immediate supervisor, and you do it at least two weeks before you decide to leave. If you can, you express some sort of gratitude for the opportunities you were given, or some statement about how the job has helped you. If you absolutely can not do this, you keep it simple and say something like: Dear Supervisor: I will be resigning my position on (date). If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Sincerely, Your Name

  3. Short, brief, professional. "Please accept my thirty days notice of resignation. My last day of work will be June 11, 2008. Thank you for the opportunity and best wishes for continued success! Sincerely, Paulo"

I would like to take this opportunity to wish the company the best for the future but it is with regret that I tender my resignation to take effect immediately. Please forward any monies due to me to my home address. Sincerely Mr/Ms Incredibly Peeved Copy this letter to the CEO and make sure he/she receives it. Type it and print it, sign it with a pen, put it in an envelope and copy it to everyone (senior) who you feel should know your grievance. I do not believe you owe them any notice if this is the case and I would walk out.
